When it comes to seeking thrill and excitement, parasailing is the best solution for that thirst. It provides the best setting to make the heart appreciate just how much fun this experience could be.
Parasailing is a recreational sport that utilizes the parachute and a boat to make the player go airborne.
The person should be attached to a parachute that is in turn harnessed to the parasailing boat. Once the boat moves at a very high speed the player will then be lifted and allowed to sail in the air.
Just imagine how much fun it would be to feel like flying in the air and seeing everything from above. This is freedom that you’ll never experience by merely walking on land.
Parasailing Boats
When doing parasailing over the water, the boat is one essential element to the experience. You can’t ignore the purpose this will serve you to achieve the goal in parasailing.
There are many considerations in choosing the boat that you will use for parasailing. You can’t fall short of the requirements as this will ensure you the safety of the whole activity.
Here are some aspects to check out in your boat when you go out parasailing.
1. Rent a Boat
Not everybody can afford to purchase a boat to support the parasailing endeavor. However, this shouldn’t keep you from enjoying the sport. You can easily find a boat for rent that will let you enjoy parasailing on water.
Most ports will have a number of boat owners who will rent. Just be sure to check out the structures of the boat. It must have the right features to support the parasailing activity. If possible, seek out directly the people who provide parasailing services.
2. Check the Equipment
The boats must also have the proper equipment. At the least, there must be parachute, harnesses, ropes and emergency kits.
Check out also the fuel supply of the boat. You shouldn’t go out if you don’t have sufficient fuel. The boat will be running at a very high speed when you go parasailing. You can’t afford to run out of your energy supply.
3. Hire a Guide
Parasailing by boat will also require you to have an experienced guide to accompany you throughout.
The boat will have to run long distances at a very high speed to let you enjoy parasailing. Thus, the guide can properly dictate the course where you can freely cruise without getting in the way of other people.

Parasailing Types: Know Why They’re All Fun
August 7th, 2008
Parasailing. It is a sport that offers fun combined with exhilaration and breathtaking moments. It isn’t for the weak-hearted because this activity can take you off the ground for as high as 200 feet!
There are three ways to start a parasailing experience:
1. Starting from the shore (also known as the Beach method)—in this type of parasailing, the parasailor is taken from the ground and usually makes a water landing. Among the three types, the beach method is the least recommended even for experienced parasailors. This is because the speed and the altitude of the ride are mainly controlled by the boat (or car, whichever is pulling the parasailor). With the slightest miscalculation, the rider might land in an unsafe area (probably in the water!). Only the highly experienced should choose this type of parasailing as steering instructions are also given to the rider.
2. Starting from the platform towards the sea—on this type, the parasailor also starts from the shore but his landing would be the platform. A ‘newbie’ could use this method even without any knowledge in steering a parasail. Both the boat and the platform are aligned with the wind (but just make sure that the wind is no lower than 5 mph and it shouldn’t be greater than 15 mph).
3. Starting from the platform on a ship (popularly known as the winchboat method)—with this type of parasailing, the parachuter takes off from the platform on a ship where he is hoisted to an open parachute. This parachute is ready to be used and this type of parasailing is the fastest and safest among the three types. After parasailing, a winch will aid the person to land back on the ship’s platform. To make sure of a smooth landing, both the boat speed and the line speed should be synchronized. With this type, the rigid chair could be used to make the parasailor more relaxed during the ride. The partially reclined chair, much like the harness, is also attached to the winch which is hydraulics operated.
There are so many ways to enjoy parasailing. You could enjoy the experience as an individual, as a couple, or as a group (this is best done with your family!). And if you are bent on having this as your latest (or even lifetime) hobby, then you are well on your way to numerous adventures.
What Should be Included in Your Gear for Parasailing?
August 5th, 2008
Parasailing is one recreational activity that is rapidly gaining popularity. But people who are planning to get into it are wondering what gear they should invest in before going on an actual parasailing event.
Indeed, guts is never enough if you are considering parasailing. Of course, it is necessary, but to begin with, you have to be well-equipped before, during and after the parasailing activity. Parasailing gear is necessary so you don’t compromise your safety.
The gear constitutes the most basic investment in parasailing. Of course, you can still parasail even if you are wearing a tuxedo or even if you are naked. But experts advise that you wear the necessary clothing and other accessories so your skin won’t be harmed.
The climate up in the air can be harsh to your skin because there are parcels of both warm and cold air up there where you would be flying when you parasail. Thus, there are recommended apparel and those could be bought at the nearest parasailing or sport specialty shop to you.
The paraglider is the most important gear to have for parasailing. That is because this gear is the one that would facilitate flying. The paraglider is a parachute that is actually designed for the recreational event. Thus, when a motorboat or a land transport tows the paraglider, the person would fly and the action begins.
Next, the harness and the helmet are the other two most important parasailing gears. The harness attaches your body to the parasailing canopy, thus, when the paraglider flies up to the air, so do you. One, two or three, at the most, people can be accommodated by a single parasailing harness. As they say, the more the merrier.
On the other hand, the helmet is needed protection for your head. As you may see, parasailing can be dangerous because you never know how you might fall in case the towing boat suddenly stops. Parasailing helmets are specially designed and usually have twin shell construction.
Of course, you are also advised to buy a stuff bag that has a parasailing canopy. Thus, you can carry the bag conveniently and put other essential items in it, and readily convert it into a paraglider if you are abruptly going to a parasailing event.
Modern recreational activities of people all around the world are truly evolving. Parasailing is one proof people are preferring extreme activities. When you decide to go try out parasailing, be sure to carry the necessary gear.

Choose your own parasailing method
July 28th, 2008
There are a total of three parasailing methods you can actually utilize and are also currently popular worldwide. The following are the three different parasailing methods you could choose from. Select the one that best suits your style, preference and personality.
Beach parasailing method
The fact of the matter is, though this method is fun and exciting, it is also very dangerous and not really recommended even for the parasailor that is experienced.
The process involved in this method is that the parasailor gets to be strapped to a harness that is then attached to a canopy parasail, this in turn is connected to a tow boat using a rope.
Instructions for steering are given prior to take off as well as survival in the water training just in case an emergency arises.
However, there is actually little one could do if in case something does go wrong.
Once everything is ready, the crew then signals to the driver of the boat to tighten and power up the rope thus making the canopy parasail inflate up. Parasailors are then told to walk, step, run towards the line of the boat while the boat then speeds itself up thereby sending skyward the attached parasailor.
Parasailing platform method
This method of parasailing isn’t as risky compared to the former parasailing beach method. However, it is still not an experience that could be considered safe. If you do decide to do this method, the wind must be under five and at least over fifteen. Also, make sure that you are away from any buildings and objects.
The initial steps are similar with beach parasailing, however for this method, instructiosn for steering are really unnecessary.
The platform and tow boat begins to idle forward thus making the canopy inflate. The altitude is actually controlled by the speed of the boat while the height is dictated by the tow rope amount.
Winchboat parasailing
This method is where the recovery and parasailor launch starts to take place from the speed boat. This boat is then equipped by an inflation parasail system as well as hydraulic powered by an engine main drive in order to retrieve and launch the parasailor from the deck.
All in all, these parasailing methods are all at your beck and call. You know best which fits your lifestyle, wants and needs the best. Either way, it is fun and enjoyable with a little risk involved.

A Look At Platform Parasailing
July 24th, 2008
Aside from exploring space, being able to fly is one of the greatest dreams of man. The unquenchable desire to soar with the wind is probably the reason why the Wright Brothers invented the plane. In recent years, many adventure sports, such as wind surfing and bungee jumping, are part of man’s attempts to feel, even for just a few minutes, the freedom that flight brings.
If you have been dreaming of how it feels like to glide and fly, then parasailing is an option you can try. In this sport, you will be hooked to a parasail - a parachute that is specifically designed for this activity – that is connected to a towrope. You will eventually be lifted up into the sky by a speeding boat, in aquatic parasailing, or a jeep, in terrestrial parasailing, that is pulling the towrope that is attached to your parasail.
The three kinds of parasailing are: beach, winch boat and platform. The three are actually very similar to each other, except for the location where the rider or pilot takes offs and lands. In beach parasailing, as the name implies, you both land and takeoff manually on the beach. In winch boat parasailing, the most popular of the three, you will be towed and retrieved by the winch of the vessel.
Only few resorts in the US and across the globe offer platform parasailing because it is the least safe of the three types. However, if done by professionals and in appropriate conditions, this type can be exhilarating and fun. In this kind of parasailing, you lift off and land on a platform on the vast sea.
Important platform parasailing tips
The first consideration in this type of parasailing is the speed of the wind. The ideal is between 5 to 15 miles per hour. If the wind falls or exceeds this speed, you might be in grave danger.
Although platform parasailing is considered safe, accidents do happen and necessary precautions should be ensured. You must, at all times, wear a life vest and a helmet. You need to ascertain that these safety gadgets are approved and duly certified. You don’t want to entrust your life to flimsy and substandard gears.
Before you are set aloft, you will be given some survival training. Listen intently and ask questions if there are things that you don’t understand. For beginners, don’t attempt the high winds immediately. Try experiencing the low winds first and eventually attempt at high winds when you have the hang of it.

In Key West, you’ll find everything that you love. It boasts of popular restaurants that serve delicious cuisines from all around the world. There are also various tourist spots in the city, like world renowned museums. And of course, Key West is a beautiful island which mixes both the cosmopolitan and simple kinds of life.
Most people would enjoy riding a bicycle around, sunbathing, partying at night and of course, taking up exciting sports. Examples of popular sports in Key West include jet skiing, windsurfing and wave-running. These are the kind of activities that releases tension brought about by life’s daily hurdles.
Parasailing is probably the crowd favorite. What could be a better way to soothe one’s tired body than going high up above and flying like a bird? This is the kind of “water” sport that instead of going down into the water, you go up into the sky instead. From up above, you’ll get a spectacular view of the beautiful panorama below.
Parasailing involves harnessing the person into a chute which serve as his wings. To propel the person up, the chute is attached to a moving speedy vehicle such as a fast yacht or a jet ski. It may sound dangerous to be flying openly with only a chute, but it isn’t.
Parasailing is considered to be a safe sport. But of course, you would also have to be proactive to better ensure your safety. Before you go flying, enroll yourself first in a short parasailing course. There are many vendors in Key West which offer this kind of service.
Aside from learning how to parasail from the experts, you also need to get yourself good and high quality equipment. You surely wouldn’t want to save a few bucks, and risk equipment failure while you’re up in the sky, right?
The next time you happen to drop by Key West, don’t just be contented in tasting their famous cuisines. Be a little more adventurous and go get yourself a parasail. Parasailling really helps people maintain a young heart, especially those who haven’t had the time to have real fun.

Parasailing as a Sport
July 18th, 2008
Nelly Furtado sings “I’m Like A Bird”. If you are curious how that’s like, then try parasailing.
Once you’re hooked, you’re singing “Defying Gravity” like Elphaba on “Wicked” high up in the sky. You can even try touching the clouds and reaching for the rainbow. Imagine soaring high above green pastures and blue mountains.
Parasailing has been around for more than twenty years. It is an adventure sport which numerous adventurous and risk-taking individuals have experimented with whenever they get the chance. Thanks to Jet Boats available, more and more individuals are discovering for themselves the pleasures parasailing has to offer.
In fact, try checking out the beaches. Chances are you’ll see Parasailing lifting riders. All over the United States of America, people heading to the ocean have brightly colored parachutes included in their sports boats.
In parasailing, you’ll need a boat that has 90HP – at least. Make sure you have a parasail canopy as well as a body harness and towline. These are the basic parasailing equipment.
The area for take-off and flight must have no obstacles like ropes, power lines and trees. As long as you have an observer, skilled driver, two men on the ground and winds going in your favor, you’re ready to fly high up the sky.
Parasailing has become so popular that canopies are custom made. Some of which are designed to fit when flown up in the sky. These kinds resist the wind. Called the HLLD or the High Lift Low Drag, these parachutes are inflated by Winch Boats using Launch Bar systems.
Before you take off, inspect the gear and ensure that your flight won’t encounter any problems. The wind mustn’t go beyond 15mph. Wear a helmet, life vest and feet protection.
You, the flyer, steps on the harness and hooks this into the parachute. Let the crew assist you with this so that you are safe. The boat then sails off the tow line and extends in its full length.
The flight crew holds both sides of the chute. A person beckons the signal to take flight. You shouldn’t run to where the boat is. Instead, resist the pull in so that the line is maintaining your balance. Take a couple of steps on the lift off area.
Enjoy the view up in the sky. Parasailing is breathtaking and absolutely thrilling for people who love being around nature. So what are you waiting for? The skies are up there – all for you.
